I watched Top Gun and followed it up with Hellraiser 3. Top Gun is okay, the motorcycle sequences are nice. Hellraiser 3 is f'ing horrible. I think I had continuous gag reflex from five minutes in through. It is not even funny terrible, it breaks that barrier and goes into terrible terrible. I cannot believe Clive Barker put his name on that piece of trash. Afterwards, I found there are 5 more sequels to the series. Ugh, no thanks. Furthermore, a remake of the original is in the works. This is one of the seminal works of horror/ bondage/ pleasure/ pain/ all around goodness I know. I hope it is redone well. I know the film continues to be a source of inspiration in my work. There is something nice about the combination of chains, hooks, torn skin, and smiles. Of course, the lead cenobite always offers memorable quotes: Unbearable, isn't it? The suffering of strangers, the agony of friends. <continued> |
