Thom presentation. I think it went well. The board of jurors gnashed their teeth and we came back at them with our claws and sharp bark. We tried to steer the conversation in the directions we desired. There were a few spots the group lost track of where we needed to be. That is where having a big gun like Thom comes into play. When he talks, people listen and do. But, what I found most interesting of the project and the criticisms was the diversity of voices in support of our project. Support is only a general term. A new urbanist commented on our ability to convince Thom to like a project he otherwise would not. The dutch guy seemed to appreciate the work as well. And then there was the professors, who elected to show our project in the post-school exhibition as one of the best research studio projects of the year. A high honor. I believe leaving school, this is what it will take. We will need to be able to bring people from a variety of backgrounds together in support of projects. <continued> |
