Rem Koolhaas. Evidentially, it is his world and we are all bottom feeders. I was able to take a time out to leap over to USC in order to check this guy out. The lecture seemed very fragmented. He opened by saying he wished it was a smaller environment, less people, because he planned to have an intimate conversation. I do not know if he shifted this at the last minute or if his idea intimacy is almost scatter-brain-esque. He was able to blast his way through an extremely diverse cross section of his work in a little over an hour. But a focus was hard to find. I find it interesting, my idea of taking a break is to go see a lecture by an architect. Or, a few days from now, I will have a thought to check into an architectural exhibit at a museum as a break. Those kinds of breaks are super refreshing. It is good to get outside of this archi-drain, obviously. Blast off. The time was ripe to shoot into a Studio:Thom exploration. Really, we are trying to square up some site specific research that will help to inform programme. <conti nued> |
