This afternoon I took a short journey to another land, Culver City. The scene was an Outlet lecture by Tom Wiscombe. Admittedly, I have been mildly interested in Tom's work for a few years now. That made it a little awkward when he said hello to me. I felt like a servant to his master, avert your eyes and be polite and courteous. The lecture was amazing. One of the best I have seen this year. The working methodology of the office is something I am acutely interested in being a part of once I graduate from school. He seemed to be nailing all the key points taught at UCLA. This, should not be a surprise, given he is a UCLA graduate. The presentation seemed like it was coming from the Columbia camp of the early nineties, and not of someone from the west. Of particular note was the look at the butterfly wing structure, following a study on dragonfly wings. <continued>
