Studio lottery. Exhibition openings. Architecture all-stars. Happy hour. These were the themes of the day. Of course, the main attraction was the studio lottery. I had two studios without professors. Now, I have two studios with professors. Leading my ten week advanced topics studio will be Neil Denari of NMDA. And the year long research [thesis] studio is Thom Mayne of Morphosis. Both were choice #uno. Lucky, lucky, lucky. Though, the consensus is most people got their first choices. I did catch a few with number two choices, but no deep resentments. Next quarter, I will have one more studio selection to make. Ha! That is an absurd thought in the moment. I do not have any time to think about that now. Needless to say, I am extremely excited. The opening of the exhibitions was nice. Not overly super-massively bombastic. I was blinded by a fog of ecstasy and booze. I did catch a glimpse of Greg Lynn scoping one of my co-works. Six months ago, I would have laughed at the idea. Now, roll on. |
